As the name may suggest, I'm pretty into cupcakes. After completing the Pastry Arts program at YTI Lancaster in 2008, the Head Psycho, Nicole (that's ME!), fell in love with the wonderful world of cupcake possibilities. Their adorable size matched with the ability to combine flavors -cake, filling, icing, toppings- to create an insane dessert that fits in the palm of your hand, just makes sense! I have spent years tweaking and perfecting my delicious treats. And, I feel no guilt in manipulating dozens of cupcakes into my face just to be sure I've nailed a recipe. Desserts are typically the final hoorah of a delightful meal, so why not make it something worth going Psycho over?
Psycho Cupcakes was formed in July 2012, out of my home kitchen. I had the fortuitous opportunity to purchase a struggling bakery in Mechanicsburg, PA, in January 2013. The transition was very raw and very quiet; no immediate press or grand opening was held, as advised by the previous owner, which is regretful. Months passed, until finally putting up a new business sign to reflect that Psycho Cupcakes had taken over from the previous cake shop. Slowly, Psycho Cupcakes leaked its presence to the world. I excitedly offered the area a new twist on the stale accustomed bakery experience: freshly baked cupcakes from scratch! I introduced many customers to the wonderfulness of Italian buttercream and the beautiful way it pairs with real cake. I baked my heart out, but sadly, after 2 ½ years, I had to close the shop in May 2015.
I currently continue to create orders upon request from my home. I still offer the option to pick up or have the order delivered. I am still developing new treats, and hope to open another shop in the future. I am so thankful and appreciative to my loyal and new customers. The best kinds of people go Psycho!
